We’re big believers in focusing on what works. Our time is VALUABLE and the key to making it in this business world is figuring out how to systemize and automate your business, so that you can focus on the things that truly matter.
One of the hacks we’ve found that work best for our business (and our mental sanity) is focusing only a few things at a time and letting the rest fall to the side. This means focusing on only a few things each day. Focusing on only a few social platforms that work for us and letting go of the rest.
For a long time, Pinterest was one of those things we let fall to the side.
We don’t believe in secrets, so we’re sharing the best system we’ve found for saving time on Pinterest Marketing. But before we go on, we do want to say that this is for the beginners: the ones who are still trying to figure out how to make Pinterest work for you.
If you’re ready for a more in depth tutorial on how to take Pinterest to the next level, we’ve got a killer resource for you: She’s Got Vision. She’s Got Vision is our go-to for all things Pinterest Marketing. Throughout this post we’ll link to some of our favorite resources they offer, so you’ll be able to go from Pinterest newbie to pro in no time.
So without further ado, here are our 5 tips for saving time on Pinterest Marketing:
Just like EVERYTHING in your business, it’s way more efficient to work in batches: focus on a few things at a time and plan it out a few weeks/months in advance. 1. It’s great for our brains because we’re not as great at multitasking as you may think. 2. It increases productivity because we can get WAY more done when we’re not jumping back and forth between a million little things.
Obviously, this is helpful for every piece of your business — not just Pinterest. But for Pinterest, specifically, there are some really helpful tools for batching pins.
We could go on and on about how to use Tailwind, but She’s Got Vision already has tons of great resources you can find right over here. The short story is: it allows you to schedule out hundreds of pins at a time, so that your Pinterest account is posting new content each day WITHOUT you even logging into it. (So yes, it’s a game changer.)
One of the best parts about Pinterest Marketing, is you don’t really need to create a ton of NEW content, just a couple great visuals that you can reuse over and over.
For each blog post, consider making 2 different templates that you can share to your boards. Having two different visuals just doubled the amount of content you can send back to your page (without writing more blog posts!). You can do this with your opt ins and freebies — anything that is going to bring visitors back to your site or join your email list.
When it comes to actually pinning the content you’ve created, looping pins will save you a TON of time. Our friend Vanessa, of She’s Got Vision, has an incredible blog post on this that can explain this step by step WAY better than we can, but here’s the short version:
Looping pins is basically just re-pinning the SAME pin, to multiple relevant boards, (now here’s the key) *over a period of time.* This is where Tailwind is basically a lifesaver because you can schedule these out in only a few clicks.
You don’t want to pin the exact same pin to multiple boards at the same time because if someone lands on your page, it’ll look like you just pinned the same pin over and over again. It’ll look like you have nothing else to offer!
But the fact is, one pin can be used on multiple boards, so if you spread these out *over time* to each board, your pin will have a much better chance of getting seen.
(For an in depth tutorial on how this works, check out Vanessa’s blog post: How Looping Pins Helped a DIY Blogger Explode Her Traffic.)
This one might be our favorite, and if you made it this far, chances are, you’re already on the right track because you want to learn!
There are so many people who are WAY smarter than we are when it comes to Pinterest Marketing. So instead of trying to figure it all out by ourselves, we invested. We invested in courses, we read blog posts, we consulted the experts — and we still do — to learn what we should be doing. And it saved us so much time in the process.
Obviously, one of our go-to sources is She’s Got Vision. If you’re looking for more resources, they offer tons of free content including blog posts, this Pinterest Audit Freebie, and our personal favorite: a Pinterest 101 course — which breaks down everything you need to know to boost traffic and connect with your audience on Pinterest.
Even though all of the tips above will save you a TON of time, there’s one more obvious solution that would just be silly not to recommend: outsourcing.
In addition to free resources, She’s Got Vision also offers an incredible Pinterest Management service, so if Pinterest is something you’d rather not worry about, take it off your plate!! Seriously, we give you permission to not do #allofthethings, okay?
