Today, I want to touch on some of the amazing things that Heather Crabtree, Ike & Tash and Monique Melton talked about in their presentations for our Creative Brand Summit, because they were important and inspirational AF. So here goes.
Pin me to read later!
#1 Send a little gift to someone special
This can be something as simple as a Thank You for Being an Amazing Person card, or as fun and cute as a Greetabl (which, if you haven’t checked these out, you totally should and that link gets you 15% off!)
I challenge you to think of 3 people per month to send a little somethin’ to – a card with a $5 Starbucks card, a Greetabl (which is like $15ish including shipping and you don’t even have to leave home for it), a card from Etsy to support another creator.
Go that extra mile – use your contact form to ask leads for their address (mark it as optional, of course). Have an address book handy of people whom you admire and want to connect closer to!
Maybe even make a super special address book form (<< hint hint) that you can display on your website and Instagram to grab those addresses easily.

#2 Ask what you can do for them
Okay, so Monique’s presentation a. was hilarious b. was informative and c. totally hit a soft spot for me and I’m taking this one right out of her notes.
Build that tribe by 1. actually talking to people (no small talk, yo) but 2. asking what you can do to better THEIR lives or business.
The kicker? You can’t let them get away with “Oh, nothing, I’m fine.”
When you dedicate yourself to this one, you make sure to get an answer from them. And then make sure to actually follow through with it.
The glory of this one is that not only do you feel amazing for helping someone else, but they also feel amazing that you helped them out and Bonus: they may ask you about how they can help YOU out.
#3 Remember to be grateful
We all get those nightmare clients, or we run in the same circles with people who “steal” our ideas or who are in it for the wrong reasons (hahaha, I’m binge watching the Bachelorette, can you tell??) – whatever the case may be.
But focus on YOUR why.
The reason why YOU’RE in it and why you’re doing what you’re doing.
It’s a powerful thought. Remembering that the monotonous is really a blessing – how many people can say that they do what you do for a living or as a lucrative hobby?
And it’s SO easy to get disgruntled – someone’s inconveniencing you, someone’s stealing your spotlight, someone’s doing it better or in a way that makes you feel inferior.

But, if you remember your Why (why did you start this business in the first place? Are you passionate about what you’re doing? Are you helping people? How are you helping people and what are you helping them to do?), then it’s SO much easier to be grateful.
Being grateful for all of the emails in your inbox because it means you’re making impacts on people’s lives.
Being grateful for so little emails in your inbox because it means you’re able to focus your marketing efforts elsewhere.
Being grateful for the client who takes too long or doesn’t get it or is unbearably frustrating because she won’t be around forever and you’re excited to find a way to speak her love language and give her the best experience she’s ever received within the small amount of time that you are working together.
Be grateful for those who you come in contact with daily – spread love and support amongst your Instagram followers and people who use the same hashtags as you.
Engage. Be present. Be uplifting and encouraging.
You get back what you put out, girlfriend.
